Diane's Bakery has been in business for over 50 years. Owner Robert Anderson bought Diane's, which opened as Paul's bakery in the 1920s, and then became Diane's in 1968. Cake decorator Susan Vittorini has worked the counter for 31 years.
Diane's is best known for its filled croissants (egg and cheese in the mornings; turkey-stuffing-cranberry and broccoli-cheese at lunch), pumpkin muffins, and their to die for all butter chocolate chip cookies. mmm .... I want some now!
And besides who can walk by a mom and pop pastry shop when the doors are open and it smells so good??!!

This is a terrific little Lebanese grocery/bakery shop in the middle of Roslindale Square. Their pita and their lamajoune are always fresh, and made in the back of the shop.
Rose Water? Check. Hummus, baba ganoush, and rolled grape leaves? Check. Mint tea, haloumi, the best yogurt and labneh (Lebanese sour cream) around? Check, check, and check. You need pomegranate syrup? They've got pomegranate syrup.
The prices on their fruit and veg are less than other places, and they offer things you wouldn't get in other places, like those cute not-run-of-the-mill light green cucumbers. And BUCKETS of fill your own olives. mmm
And if you ever wanted to know what zatar is, go to Droubi's and get a humungous bag of it for less than four dollars, and cook your heart out!

Without a doubt one of the *Best* bakeries in Boston. The space is really charming--old pressed tin ceiling, wood floors. It feels hip in a chill kind of way. Fornax can be mistaken for just a shop where you just come to order bread and pastries (which you can certainly get there), but there are actually 5 or so tables where you can sit down and eat your meal.
Oh yes and the food is Fabulous...The bacci rolls make the best sandwiches, the multi-grain boule is rich, moist, and substantial, and the North Italian sourdough has a great crust and subtle flavor. The homemade Banana Bread is so scrumptious, buy it by the loaf or the slice.
Their lunch salads are excellent, abundant and well-priced. For example, the mesclun salad is organic greens, currants, pine-nuts, home-made croutons from their bread, plus a couple pieces of fresh bread. Add chicken for for an extra buck. These easily feeds two (or nice leftovers). Also for Lunch they feature soup/sandwiches, their are 4 soups available. The turkey asiago w/ tomato on semi-sourdough is pretty awesome.

Gooches Bakery Inc. is Roslindale’s very own wholesale manufacturer of wheat-free Italian pastas and breads. You should call first; the bakery focuses primarily on a shipping business and keeps mostly nocturnal hours.

Wow!! Their Pizza and Subs are really good....served at a bakery, not a pizzeria.....in Roslindale -believe it or not! Not only does John's have pizza but really good baked goods as well. Located right in the heart of Rosi..
